It's been like more than 60 years ago.

But looking back, this military conflict changes the fate of nations and superpowers the most. It also affects the most people and the aftermath created the threat or cataclysmic nuclear destruction of earth. Never have a conflict affected so many people and nations. It also killed more civilians than combatants. The homefront was a fair game for the enemy as civilians are targeted, leading to the term total war or total annihilation. It's no longer about seizing natural resources and land.It also became a battle of ideology, fascism (far right) vs. communism (far left). Many mass murder were committed. It's a bloody hell on earth for those who survived the rationing, starvation and suffering.

There are tons of books, novels, reports and news clips/reels today and from that era that continue to fascinate modern readers and students.

Many modern military technologies and tactics were created to kill the most humans efficiently. Quatum leaps in technology were achieved. Rockets to space, jet planes and computers were some of the positive outcome of the conflict.

It's also a military conflict in the full view of history supported by modern technologies like printing press, photography and movies/news reel.
